It's a formula the previous Crazy Penguin Catapult stuck to just as rigidly, and though essentially all that's on offer here is a selection of new levels, there's little to grumble about when what's included - fresh or not - is just such damned good fun.When people say "the grass is always greener on the other side", they're issuing you a warning. The more polar bears you can take out with each penguin, the closer you are to clearing each stage and picking up the next upgrade. It makes using the upgrades on offer - upping the number of penguins at your disposal, adding bounces to their routine, gifting the ability to re-route them mid-flight - all the more important.
That's because there's little guarantee that your well thought out plans will pay off, with the penguins bounding and bouncing any which way, sometimes working to your advantage, sometimes not. Crazy Penguin Catapult 2 is just as much a case of both precision and luck as its predecessor was. In both cases, the '5' key is your friend.
Once the penguins are airbound, play moves onto the polar bears' abode, where your task is to direct the penguins down towards the bears one by one, each one bouncing on contact and taking out any others in the surrounding area (if you're lucky). First you have to pelt your penguins into the air using a variety of catapults, timing being the key as you aim to avoid splatting them into a wall, instead shooting them through a narrow canal into the sky. It's a set-up almost identical to the previous instalment with play following the same pattern, splitting each level into two set actions. In this game, my white fluffy friends are in fact white fluffy foes, the task being to take out as many of them from each stage as possible. A stuffed polar bear toy I had as a kid has left an indelible mark on my psyche - one that makes firing upon said bears with kamikaze penguins a rather difficult task to bear.Ĭrazy Penguin Catapult 2, however, requires me to brave such atrocities. The onset of global warming is eroding their habitat with gay abandon. If a wealth of scientists are to be believed, the very existence of polar bears is currently under threat.
